Mullen Adds MD to Its Los Angeles Office

Automotive account leader Cameron McNaughton has been named managing director of the Los Angeles office of Mullen—a key hub for the agency's Acura account. McNaughton most recently was president at Hudson Rouge, a New York-based shop that WPP Group set up in December 2011 to handle Ford Motor’s Lincoln brand. McNaughton left last June and Mark LaNeve, the global chief operating officer of WPP's Team Detroit, asborbed the president's responsibilities. McNaughton's position at Mullen is new.

Comcast Extends Low-Cost Internet Program Indefinitely

Few companies can compare with Comcast when it comes to greasing the wheels of Washington to get a deal cleared. Less than a month after it announced a $45 billion deal to acquire Time Warner Cable, Comcast said it would extend "indefinitely" its low-cost Internet program. Launched in May 2011 as part of its NBCUniversal deal, Internet Essentials was set to expire at the end of June.

Dish-Disney Carriage Deal Disables the Hopper

Six months after the expiration of their joint carriage deal, the Walt Disney Co. and Dish Network have agreed to a long-term pact that will not only keep ABC, ESPN and other Mouse House channels up and running in the satellite company’s 14.1 million households but includes concessions related to the ad-skipping “AutoHop” service. In a statement released Monday night, both parties indicated that the new deal “will result in dismissal of all pending litigation” between Dish and Disney.

For the record, Pete Kistler—age 26, resident of New York, brown hair, slender build—is not a felon. The problem is, until recently, just about anyone who Googled him would have thought he was. Geico's Talking Pig Runs for Mayor of 'Portlandia'

Last year, Geico and Portlandia had fun with the insurer's pig character, Maxwell, in an IFC spot that referenced the comedy's farm-to-table skit. Now they want to take the talking swine all the way to the Rose City mayorship.  Geico's spot, called The Nomination (see below), debuted on Feb. 27 during the first episode of Portlandia's fourth season.
