It’s common knowledge by now that Microsoft has a maker space on its campus called the Microsoft Garage. Employees use the facility to explore new ideas and the company even holds an internal “science fair” for employees to show off their latest creations.
Last year Consumer Reports reviewed the Tesla Model S, giving it a 99 out of 100 – the best score the publication has ever given a vehicle. That review was then backed up by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, which gave the Model S the highest safety rating it has ever given a car.
Apple made headlines last year by introducing the first 64-bit mobile chipset in the iPhone 5S and iPad Air. The company said the move to 64-bit would allow for better performance while retaining backwards compatibility with 32-bit apps. Android device manufacturers were a little slower on the draw, but now they’re starting to introduce their own 64-bit chips.
Yelp CEO Jeremy Stoppelman has written an open letter to Arizona Governor Jan Brewer, which was just posted to the company’s blog. Stoppelman urges Brewer to veto SB 1062, the controversial bill that would allow businesses in the state to refuse service to anyone based on religious freedom.

Dear Governor Brewer:
I write to express my concern about SB 1062 and to respectfully request that you veto this legislation.

Suffolk County police say the owner of an upscale wedding hall was shot in the head outside of his establishment on Monday.
Victim Gary Melius was reportedly shot by a masked assailant as he was getting into his car. A 9-1-1 call came in from the area at about 12:30 pm saying that shots had been fired. According to Suffolk County Detective Sgt. John O’Sullivan Melius had already been taken to an area hospital by a family member by the time police arrived on the scene.
